What PlayAI (Play.ht) is
PlayAI (Play.ht) was a text-to-speech and voice AI platform whose roughly 35-person team was acquired by Meta in July 2025 and folded into Meta Superintelligence Labs. The product was wound down fast: new sign-ups stopped in August 2025, the API went dark, and on December 31, 2025 the platform shut off entirely — accounts, voice clones, and API endpoints were deleted with no migration path. Do not build client work on it; if you inherit a client who used it, that is a paid migration project.
